Jorge Mayer Jorge nació y se crió en el Perú, cursando luego sus estudios superiores en Austria, donde se doctoró en Química y Bioquímica. A lo largo de su vida profesional ha trabajado en diversas universidades, compañías y organizaciones de investigación & desarrollo en Alemania, Colombia y Australia, siempre convencido de los beneficios que aporta la transferencia tecnológica para los países en vías de desarrollo tales como su propio país de origen. Por muchos años Jorge ha contribuido a la generación y transferencia de tecnologías en múltiples áreas de la investigación e innovación agrícola, como por ejemplo cuando trabajó en el Centro Internacional de Agricultura Tropical en Colombia o para el proyecto del Arroz Dorado, un proyecto de especial importancia para el sudeste asiático. Su especialización adicional en el manejo de la propiedad intelectual lo posiciona idealmente para efectos de adopción y transferencia tecnológica. En la actualidad, Jorge se desempeña como consultor internacional, apoyando y desarrollando planes de negocio e inversión para agencias, universidades, centros de investigación e inversionistas en I&D en Australia y a nivel internacional.

Primer ensayo de campo con Arroz Dorado 2005 Con Peter Beyer, uno de los inventores del Arroz Dorado, durante el primer ensayo de campo en Louisiana, en el 2005. En aquel entonces el ensayo no se pudo hacer en el Asia, donde vive la mayor cantidad de gente que se beneficiará de este alimento biofortificado, por la falta legislación en bioseguridad. Hoy en día, países como Filipinas y la India por suerte ya cuentan con una regulación funcional, la que permite hacer ensayos de campo y comercializar cultivos transgénicos.
